Anne Ffrench

Anne Ffrench was born in Wexford in 1980, and currently lives and works in Kinsale Co. Cork. She graduated from NCAD (2004) with a Joint First Class Honors degree in Fine Art Sculpture and History of Art and is the co-founder of ‘The Pigeon House Studios’ Kinsale, which was set up in 2010. Ffrench has shown work at The National Review of Live Art, Glasgow; Tulca, Galway; and the Fringe Festival, Dublin. She also works collaboratively with artist Brian Harte under the name Ffrench/Harte.

Ffrench’s work is strongly grounded by material enquiry; her practice is varied but is often performative in nature, or has a ‘live’ element. Ffrench’s work primarily follows an intuitive direction; mundane objects are transformed and physical boundaries pushed in an attempt to connect with an understanding that goes deeper in the body than language.
